Simple Solutions for Complex Problems

Learn from the past.
Take action in the present.
Create the future.

Human Systems Dynamics Institute works with organizations--large and small, non-profit and for-profit, public and private--to help them build adaptive capacity for dealing with today’s complex and quickly changing environment. The field of human systems dynamics offers unique benefits to you and your employees. Here are just two of our many applications and ways we can help. Check back periodically for more.

How do I plan strategically for a future that is unpredictable and unknowable?

Strategic Response Planning - Set long-range goals and shorter-term measures. Then use repeating cycles of planning that allow you to adapt to challenges as they show up in your system.

How can I support employees in their work, hold them accountable, and help them improve their skills to meet the changing needs of our organization?

Adaptive Performance Management - Articulate clear expectations that are coherent with the direction, values, and changing needs of the organization; provide ongoing, meaningful feedback, and design professional development communities of reflective practice around those skills and expectations that will move your organization forward.

Hi, I'm in! I've been using CDE and other HSD principles in my teaching for some time now so I'm eager to hear what others are thinking about this!
Jane Canney (JWCANNEY@STTHOMAS.EDU) Is this a good place to do an online discussion?
Okay, I will email the others and see if they are interested. Who is the woman you suggested who is in your cohort at St. Thomas? Who else do you think might be interested?
Yeah, Royce, I like the online idea to get things moving and then we could meet in-person later. I think the idea of viewing schools and classrooms as CASs would be a start. Nothing showed up in a Google search.
Yes, I agree that this is a really intriguing question. I would like to re-convene the Education Community group either in person (as we had the few who were together earlier) or we could convene the group online and hold our discussions here. Any...
