This is the one I'm reading. Among other things, Goldstein holds that both Godel and Einstein were realists, though both of their works have been co-opted by constructivists and ignored (at least Godel) by positivists.

Interesting. Do you do agent-based modeling? What tools do you use? Seems a bit strange to be looking into an emergent future! Do you just learn to look at a closer one than other futurists? Or a hazier one?
This is especially interesting because most social scientists who use CAS are using it retrospectively. At HSD we focus on action in the moment--praxis to see and influence systems in the now. We use what we call Adaptive Action, an iterative process of planning to adapt into the future.
One fascinating question for me is about time in a CAS. Certainly it is key to future studies. What do you think about time?
Hi Glenda, thanks for your question! I'm a graduate student at the University of Houston's Future Studies program. I'm interested in the use of systems approaches (dynamic systems, CAS, etc) in strategic foresight. Broadly, my interests are in the area of accelerating technological change w/ respect to changes in human and natural systems. I'm also interested in the International Futures work that Dr. Barry Hughes and his group is involved with at the University of Denver.
